Hemetsberger Upsets Buntan and Ruotolo Submits Lee at ONE Fight Night 35
Bangkok, Thailand – September 5, 2025: ONE Championship returned to Lumpinee Stadium with a stacked lineup, and the women’s strawweight Muay Thai title headlined the night. Champion Jackie Buntan entered the ring as a heavy favorite, but Austrian challenger Stella Hemetsberger had other plans. Fighting with poise and precision, Hemetsberger neutralized Buntan’s signature boxing by staying on the outside and peppering the American with kicks to the legs and body. As the rounds wore on, Buntan struggled to close the distance. After five competitive frames, the judges unanimously awarded the decision to Hemetsberger, crowning a new strawweight queen and shaking up the division.
The co‑main event produced a highlight-reel stoppage when Shadow Singha Mawynn finished Bampara Kouyate with a flurry of punches and elbows just 1:20 into the second round. In the only MMA bout on the card, grappling prodigy Tye Ruotolo took on rising Hawaiian talent Adrian Lee. Ruotolo wasted no time imposing his ground game; after scoring an early takedown, he took Lee’s back and sunk a rear‑naked choke for the tap. The win marked Ruotolo’s continued dominance as he campaigns for a crack at gold.
Elsewhere, featherweight standout Akbar Abdullaev scored a first-round TKO against Ibragim Dauev, and Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon overwhelmed Dmitrii Kovtun with relentless clinch work and knees until the referee stepped in. Teen phenom Johan Ghazali added another finish to his resume by dismantling Zakaria El Jamari with body shots, while strawweight prospect Natalie Salcedo tapped Macarena Aragon with a slick armbar. On the prelims, Hyu Iwata showed improved striking en route to a TKO of Jordan Estupinan, rounding out a night that balanced striking fireworks with technical grappling mastery.
