Thai Warriors Championship Expands to Chiang Mai, Blending Muay Thai and MMA

Chiang Mai, Thailand — September 2025

Thai Warriors Championship (TWC), a hybrid Muay Thai/MMA promotion that has traditionally run shows in Bangkok, made its first expansion north with an outdoor event in Chiang Mai’s Old City Arena.

The promotion has become known for its “Muay Thai vs. MMA” themed matchups, which draw big interest from Thai fans who love seeing how different styles clash. This month’s marquee bout put rising Thai MMA prospect Lekchai Worapong against French Muay Thai striker Damien Laurent. Worapong weathered early pressure and secured a third-round submission, earning one of the loudest reactions of the night.

What makes TWC special is its cultural blend: traditional Thai drum entrances, Muay Thai ceremonial elements, interactive fan zones, and a fast-paced MMA-friendly ruleset. The Chiang Mai crowd responded with nonstop energy, and the promotion’s president announced plans to return to northern Thailand twice next year.

For Asia’s grassroots MMA ecosystem, TWC continues to offer something unique—rooted in culture but evolving toward modern MMA entertainment.
